Adirondack Mountain Reserve (AMR) parking reservations
The AMR is a privately owned 7,000-acre land parcel located in the Town of Keene Valley that allows for limited public access to the High Peaks through a conservation easement agreement with DEC.
In 2022, the reservation system will again be used to improve safety issues centered around general congestion and parking in the High Peaks Region. In recent years pedestrian traffic, illegal parking, and roadside stopping along Route 73, have created a dangerous environment for hikers and motorists alike. This system will also continue to help trip planning, ensuring that you will have a spot upon arrival.
The details: This is a no-cost, FREE reservation system designed to protect public safety at this heavily traveled location and study impacts to resources based on visitation. The reservation system will only run from May 1 to October 1. Booking will be for two weeks out at a time only. Walk-ins without a reservation will not be permitted. The reservation system applies to visitors using the AMR lot arriving by car, bicycle, or on foot.
